One of the goals of every Rebbe and
Morah is to give the students the skills to empower them to translate
and learn on their own. Shorashim are the building blocks of Chumash.
When a student masters shorashim, they are on the path to a lifetime of
learning.
A primary difficulty that students experience is their inability to
associate the word with its translation. After seeing many
children struggle with translation I have developed these
flashcards. There are 100 flashcards in each set and I have
picked some of the most common shorashim in Chumash Bereishit. In
order to take advantage of the visual aspect of learning, each card has
been printed in full color. Each flashcard contains the shoresh,
a picture that best depicts its meaning and the English
translation. The other side contains the shoresh alone. My
experience with my classes has shown that these cards foster a
familiarity with shorashim.
Besides the five cards displayed on this page, you can view the entire set
here. I am currently working on a
computer quiz
so that the students can test themselves on their knowledge of the
shorashim. The cards are available for $12 per set plus postage.
